John Olsen commenced on 18th June 2008 to walk solo and unsupported 4752 kilometers from West to East across Australia. He began at Steep Point Western Australia and will traverse the remote Great Victoria Desert and the challenging Great Dividing Range to reach Cape Byron (Byron Bay) NSW. John will then walk from Byron Bay to his home town of Geelong raising funds along the way. He is passionate about reaching his target of $200,000 to be divided equally between the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation (ALCMF) and the Australian Leukodystrophy Support Group Inc. (ALDS) which are the charities closest to his heart. Both of these charities help children and adults with mobility problems.

This project will succeed with your encouragement and the financial support of Lions Clubs and the general community throughout our great country.

A commendable challenge. For readers wanting a smaller challenge, try the Great North Walk
